A $230 GPU Which Outperforms Last Generation’s Arc A750

Seeing as how we are only getting unboxing videos of NVIDIA’s RTX 5090 and no performance results, let’s take a look at a new Arc card, the ASRock Challenger 10GB OC.  The card has a 100HZ overclock on the GPU, and from The FPS Review’s testing the rated 2600MHz GPU Boost clock is nowhere near the upper limit for this card.  ASRock put a lot of effort into the cooling on this card, the temperature of the GPU never exceeded 62c, and the memory temperature peaked at 68c while maintaining a rock solid 2750MHz frequency on that GPU.

You will get impressive performance at 1080p without ray tracing enabled, when you enable ray tracing you will find that the card struggles and cannot reach 60fps in most games.  That is expected for a card at this price point, and we may even see the card approach playable results with driver updates.  At 1440p, even with XeSS enabled, you are not going to enjoy most games.   With the exception of the new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game, the Challenger 10GB OC can’t quite make playable average frame rates.  That shouldn’t disappoint, for the ~$200 price tag purchasers should be aiming for 1080p.
