One Noise Gate, Six Compressors, 14 drive pedals, 39 Amps …
If like to jam on the guitar and are looking for a way to carry a wide variety of pedals and amps with you and don’t have roadies to cart everything around the Spark 2 might be just what you are looking for. It’s a lightweight 50W practice amp and Bluetooth speaker which will cost you around $300 and lets you store eight different preset tones, and control gain, EQ, modulation, delay, and reverb. With the accompanying phone app, you can swap those eight presets around with whatever sounds you want. If you want to sound like you’re playing through an overdriven Marshall head, load up that profile and start jamming.
It won’t quite sound exactly like the real thing, but it’s close enough for jamming and offers a huge amount of flexibility in a tiny package. Ars Technica’s reviewer played with the chamber reverb tone and could use the app to “modify the reverb signal, the reflection time of the chamber, the “dwell” time of the sound in the room, the amount of sound damping, and whether the sound will have some of its lows or highs cut off.” If that sounds like a lot of fun then check out the full review of the Spark 2.
