With CES 2025 just around the corner, Nvidia is ramping up anticipation for its next-generation RTX 50-series GPUs. A teaser video was recently released, showcasing a shadowy image of a gaming PC. After some brightness adjustments by the folks over at VideoCardz, the internet quickly spotted what appeared to be a brand-new Founders Edition design for an RTX 50-series card.
A Smaller, sleeker design
The newly uncovered GPU looks notably smaller than the current RTX 4090 and RTX 4080, suggesting this could be a mid-range model like the RTX 5070 or even the 5060. (of course, the whole thing could just not be to scale) The design looks more compact, which hints that Nvidia could be scaling down power requirements for lower-end models in the RTX 50 series. This could signal a more efficient and user-friendly form factor, making it an attractive option for gamers and creators with limited space or who prefer a quieter, less bulky solution.
Looking at the cooler, we notice a shift from the push-pull fan setup in the current RTX 40-series Founders Edition cards. Instead, this new model features a twin-fan design, which could improve airflow and reduce noise levels. The fans are likely optimized for quieter, more efficient cooling—perfect for those looking for high performance without excessive fan noise.
Vertical power connector
Another surprising design element is the vertically oriented power connector, which could hint at changes to how power cables are routed on future RTX cards. It’s not a feature found on current-generation Nvidia GPUs but could potentially become the norm for the RTX 50-series lineup. While it’s unclear what this change would mean for PC builders, it may allow for better cable management or more flexibility with custom PC builds.
What does this mean for RTX 50-Series?
While the image hasn’t been confirmed as an official render yet, the specific details—like the LED strip, power connector, and cooler—point towards this being a legitimate glimpse at Nvidia’s new design. With CES 2025 fast approaching, Nvidia is expected to officially reveal the RTX 50 series during CEO Jen-Hsun Huang’s keynote.
If this new design belongs to a mid-range RTX 5070, it could be a welcome shift in Nvidia’s GPU lineup, offering high performance in a more compact, visually striking form. Including a vertically oriented power connector and unique cooler could also point to further innovation in terms of power delivery and cooling efficiency.
