NTU Adopts Theta Labs’ EdgeCloud to Boost AI Research in Speech and Language Processing
Theta Labs has announced that Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore has become the newest academic customer for its EdgeCloud product. NTU, ranked among the top universities in Singapore and globally, is known for its innovative research in artificial Intelligence (AI) and speech processing.
According to the official release, NTU’s Speech Lab will use Theta EdgeCloud’s decentralized GPU technology to improve AI research in speech and language. This will help NTU train ASR models, develop better transcription systems, and work on noise reduction and speech identification.
Under Professor Chng Eng Siong, NTU has pioneered work in areas such as multilingual automatic speech recognition (ASR), noise reduction, and AI-driven language models. The lab’s focus includes developing speech recognition systems for languages like English, Mandarin, and Singlish, as well as improving transcription accuracy and speaker identification in complex environments.
Theta Labs Expands Network as Part of 2025 Roadmap
The Professor expressed enthusiasm about using Theta EdgeCloud to enhance their research. He emphasized that the platform’s easy-to-use decentralized GPU setup is crucial for advancing their work in speech, language processing, multilingual ASR, and real-time AI, making it a vital choice for their team. He stated:
“We’ve seen Theta Labs success and collaboration with many of the top South Korean and US universities, and we’re excited to use EdgeCloud to scale our research at NTU’s Speech Lab. The platform’s easy-to-use distributed GPU infrastructure allows us to push our research into speech, language processing, multilingual ASR and real-time AI applications. This was a key driver for us to adopt Theta EdgeCloud.”
Prior to this, Theta Labs has partnered with universities including Seoul National University, KAIST, University of Oregon, Peking University, and many others. This partnership builds on Theta Labs’ progress in 2024 and supports their plans for 2025. Key steps include the Beta launch of Theta EdgeCloud’s hybrid cloud platform in June 2025 and the expansion of its decentralized network, which now has over 30,000 nodes worldwide. The team stated:
“This partnership aligns with the key milestones outlined in the 2025 Roadmap. These milestones include the Beta release of Theta EdgeCloud’s fully hybrid cloud-edge computing platform in June 2025 and the ongoing expansion of its decentralized edge network, now encompassing over 30,000 nodes globally.”
THETA Token Sees Increased Trading Volume Amid Decline in Price
The price of THETA has been struggling since early December, declining nearly 50% from December 8 to the current price. It has consistently bounced off strong support around $1.90.
Despite the price struggles,
THETA

24h volatility:

Market cap:
$1.93 B
Vol. 24h:
$37.52 M
has seen an increase in 24-hour trading volume, according to CoinMarketCap data. During this period, trading volume has grown by more than 200%, signaling increased activity and potentially renewed interest in the token.
With support at $1.90 consistently holding, the price could start to recover from this level and begin a new rally. However, a break below this strong support level could lead to continued decline.
Consequently, the current support between $1.90 and $1.92 is crucial for THETA’s short-term direction. The increased interest indicated by trading volume could signal an upward trajectory. However, if market conditions remain unchanged, consolidation might continue until the general crypto market starts to recover.next
