The RTX 5090 will be the most potent enthusiast GPU we have ever seen; there’s no doubt about that. What we didn’t count on, however, is how massive it will be. Sure, the RTX 4090 was a big boy, coming in at three slots wide, but the 5090 will take the cake – specifically the Inno3D iChill X3 design. This variant of the RTX 5090 will occupy a gargantuan 3.5 slots in your PC, so make sure you have the room before upgrading.
That’s not all that was revealed; however (though the 3.5-slot design was noted as a key feature), a few more features have been confirmed. VideoCardz reports that the RTX 5090 will come with 32GB of GDDR7 memory, which is double that of the RTX 5080. (some specifications of which were revealed in another box leak).

The iChill variant seems to have a relatively modern yet sleek design that allows the iChill to fit into any build aesthetically. If this card specifically doesn’t tickle your fancy, remember that this won’t be the only 5090 variant to be released. You still have the Founders Edition with its rumoured new design to sink your teeth into – presumably the usual AIB suspects.
Nvidia will present its keynote at CES 2025 on January 7th at 2:30 AM. You can find the event’s live stream on Nvidia’s YouTube channel and website if you want to watch the announcements unfold live.
RTX 5090 rumored specifications
These specifications are still rumoured and have not yet been confirmed, but according to the very reliable TechPowerup, the general RTX 5090 specifications are as follows:

As we mentioned before, the RTX 5090 is set to be the most powerful GPU we have ever seen on the desktop platform, and these specifications (if you know anything about GPU specifications) kinda give you an indication as to how. For instance, the RTX 4090 (the current most powerful GPU) has 16,384 Shading units, and the RTX 5090 has 21,760. Not only that, but the 5090 also has 8 GB more VRAM to play with.
